East-West Proposal Provides Interesting Insight Into Airline Workings

East-West Airlines’ proposal to the Minister for Aviation concerning their proposed ‘no-frills’ DC-9 service makes interesting reading. Not so much for what EWA hopes to achieve but rather the insight gained into the degree of fieldwork required in getting such a service into operation.

Basically, EWA are hoping to purchase two McDonnell Douglas MD-82 (nee DC-9-82 or Super 82, refer to Newsdesk for more information on new MDC designation procedures) twinjets to operate the high volume inter-city routes. The proposal is based on a ‘no frills’ service which excludes a catering service and provides a totally non-smoking cabin at 33% discounted tariff on the standard economy fares charged by TAA and Ansett.
