Fixed base operators, or FBOs, as they are more commonly known are all the vogue in the US and Europe and in recent years have begun to appear in the main capital cities of Australia.
Both Pacific Aviation and Hawker Pacific have operated well-organised and highly capable FBO’s throughout Australia since the early eighties while even Qantas has its Group Aircraft Services terminal located alongside the Mascot Jet Base to specifically cater for visiting corporate-type aircraft.
Though well known to corporate operators in the larger capitals, it is only now that the nation’s capital, Canberra, and Australia’s smallest “major” city has its own highly capable FBO. Australia’s newest FBO is Canberra Flight Facilities (no relation to Pacific Aviation’s KSA operation of a similar name). Canberra Flight Facilities is a division of the well-known Vee H Aviation organisation based in Canberra.
