On The Airbands

There’s still lots of mail coming in with contributions for On the Airbands! Keep it rolling in!

Some Mooney aircraft are a little difficult to bring back to a good landing speed, a situation illustrated at Canberra Airport recently, when instead of coming over the fence at a good ol’ 75 knots, we saw what must have been 90 knots over the piano keys! The result . . . bounce . . . bounce . . . bounce, six times already! In sheer frustration, as the Tower men watched in amazement, the hapless pilot increased power, flared again and finally set the aircraft down on touchdown number seven. There was stony silence. Then the Tower Controller came to life. “Mike Oscar Oscar . . . as far as I’m aware, you were cleared for only one landing sir, not seven!”
