South Pacific Islanders
Since the first Britten-Norman Islander was delivered to an Australian operator nearly nineteen years ago this type has always found a market throughout the islands of the South Pacific.
On July 21st VH-TWI of Perth Air Charter flew into Essendon after its ferry flight from Jandakot. After overhaul and repaint by Airepair it was rolled out early in August in the markings of Kiunga Aviation of Lae and registered P2-KAD. Another Australian BN-2A heading for New Guinea was VH-EQT. In November 1985 VH-EQT was operated by Munro Aviation at Launceston. That month saw Munro taken over by Par-Avion who were based at Cambridge. The combined fleet consisted of four BN-2A’s – VH-EQT, VH-FCP, VH-FLD and VH-TRW. It was decided that VH-EQT was surplus to requirements and a new owner was found in New Guinea. In mid-August VH-EQT became P2-NAA with Nationair, Port Moresby.
