On The Airbands

Great to see lots of hand-held radios at the Navy Air Day, Nowra and the Air Display at Bankstown Airport in October. The numbers indicate a certain increase in monitoring and this activity as a leisure pursuit is certainly being taken as seriously as it deserves.

Air Vanuatu flights are no longer being operated by Ansett Airlines, the original agreement having been terminated; while Ansett are also now flying 767 aircraft to the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. Call sign of the outbound flight is ‘Kilo Charlie 202’ and the destination airfield is Raratonga. The aircraft currently departs Sydney from the International apron on Sunday mornings (UTC Saturday 2325 hours). The return flight arrives in Sydney on Monday evenings (UTC 1205 hours).
