Federal Airports Corporation Set To Inherit Ksa Debacle
Decisions by the cash starved Federal Government over the next few months about how much money it will kick into the kitty for the new Federal Airports Corporation (FAC) will decide the level of landing charges at Commonwealth controlled airports from July 1.
Under the FAC’s Act, its initial capital structure will be decided by the Ministers for Aviation and Finance who will jointly determine the asset value of the corporation on vesting day and the amount to be taken up in debt and equity.
“Quite considerable argument is taking place with the industry at one end of the scale and the Department of Finance at the other with the Department of Aviation and FAC somewhere in between”, said FAC chief executive, former Qantas catering centre manager, Bill Swingler.
