Joint f4o4 Programme Is Example of Offsets Success
Hawker de Havilland Victoria Ltd and General Electric are participating in what is generally acknowledged as the most successful Offsets programme yet undertaken by an Australian aerospace company.
This is the Assembly, Inspection and Test {AIT} of F404-GE- 400 engines for the RAAF’s F/A-18 fighters and the manufacture of engine components which are supplied to the GE assembly line at Lynn, near Boston, USA. The order for 75 F/A-18s was placed by the Commonwealth Government in 1981 under the biggest single Australian defence contract ever let in this country.
