Qantas Logs Best Year Ever:

Qantas recorded a record $103. 6m profit for the year 1986/87, more than doubling the result of the previous year.

Furthermore, the company saw an increase in its offshore revenue base which essentially acts as an invisible export earner. Reflecting this, traffic to and from Japan was up 40%, to the US 20% while all other markets also recorded viable traffic gains against intense competition.
