Coastwatch Contract Furor Continues:
The contract for the coastal surveillance of Australia’s coastline should be reopened for tender and the Dept of Transport procedures in relation to that contract be subjected to a thorough investigation, Bruce Lloyd, Deputy Leader and National Party aviation spokesman said following further delays in ferrying the Amann Coastwatch aircraft to Australia.
“Amann Aviation was now attempting to fulfil the tender obligations with aircraft which are completely different to the type upon which the original tender was awarded. If it was good enough for the present contractor to be allowed to change the conditions of the tender to suit himself, then the fair thing to do is to permit all other contractors the same amount of flexibility when submitting their tenders”, stated Mr Lloyd.
