Pc-9 Delayed by Engine Fault:
Initial delivery of two Swiss-built Pilatus PC-9 trainers for the RAAF have been delayed till at least October. The aircraft were originally scheduled for delivery during July.
Cause of the delay is an unusual Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) problem concerning the aircraft’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-62 engine. EMI was experienced during initial test flying in Switzerland where the engine’s Electronic Limiting Unit (ELU) cut out during a test flight. Until the problem is rectified by Pilatus and Pratt & Whitney, Hawker de Havil land will not accept delivery on behalf of the RAAF of the aircraft.
