Israel Cancels Lavi:

Israel eventually decided to cancel its controversial Lavi indigenous fighter programme during early September.

Lavi was heading towards a heavy projected project cost overrun that was beginning to place a heavy strain on the limited resources of the Israeli national budget. For more than a year, IAI and the Defence Ministry had been fighting rear-guard attacks in and out of the Knesset to keep the project alive.
