Allison Release Uprated Model 250

Allison have released a more powerful version of their popular 250 turboshaft engine. Designated Model 250-C20R, the uprated engine produces some 500shp and is initially being fitted to Italian Air Force Agusta 109 helicopters. The new engine is also being offered for special hot and high versions of the Bell 206 Jetranger/Longranger and the MBB Bo105 in addition to a number of fixed wing retrofit programmes such as the Bonanza and Beech T-34. This engine would also be of interest as a primary powerplant aboard our own Nomad, if that aircraft should ever be placed back into production

German Army Move to Upgrade B0105 Fleet

The West German Army is to upgrade its large fleet of dedicated anti-armour Bo105 helicopters. The upgrade will incorporate an upgraded version of the Allison 250, the 250-C20R-3 version, new improved lift rotor blades. revised avionics and installation of the digitised Euromissile HOT 2 anti-tank rocket system. Modifications to the existing fleet will commence in 1990 and will also feature a night vision capability in addition to the enhanced range and operating profile for the updated 105 force.
