Lower value corporate and charter aircraft, like this Cessna 421 Golden Eagle, can now benefit by having the convenience and added safety of VLFIOmega navigation via the economically priced Australian made AWA-3100 system.
AWA-3100 Ready to Enter Nav Market
Awa Secures Rights to Build Sophisticated Air Navigation System
AWA’s long-term strategy to concentrate on high-technology products for the overseas market has received a boost with the recent announcement that one of the world’s most sophisticated GA navigation systems is now being manufactured in Australia exclusively for world distribution.
The AWA-3100 is being made for both the domestic and export markets at AWA’s North Ryde plant in Sydney. The system offers General Aviation the opportunity to use the extensive and highly accurate Omega navigation network around the world at a reasonable cost. Indeed, the AWA-3100 will retail for around $24,000 (excluding installation), which is at least 50% less expensive than its nearest imported rival.
The system utilises the long distance VLF (Very Low Frequency) navigation signals to pinpoint the aircraft’s exact position. To do this the AWA-3100 locks onto Omega and VLF transmissions and calculates latitude and longitude typically to within one nautical mile anywhere in the world.
