Hawker Pacific has delivered its 500th Beechcraft aeroplane, a C24R Sierra VH-SNH to Mr Jack Hailes of Sydney. During the of years Hawker Pacific/Hawker de Havilland have held the distributorship, about 300 of the heavier Debonairs, Bonanzas, Barons and over 100 of the lighter Musketeers, Sundowners and Sierras have been sold.
•The first flight of an Airbus A300 powered by the new $2,500lb st General Electric CF6-50C2 engines took place at Toulouse on 10 May. The new engine is mounted in a modified pod with a short propulsion nozzle which is expected to give a significant reduc tion in specific fuel consumption. The engine has been specified for the 23 aircraft recently ordered by Easter, 6 for Iran Air and for future A300 deliveries to Air France.
