International Air Safety Law, 1988 World Congress
On 8 March 1988, after many months of hard work, the Organising Committee publicly launched the ALAA’s International Air Safety Law 1988 World Conference. Patron of the Congress, the Honourable Sir Laurence Street, KCMG, Chief Justice of New South Wales, welcomed sponsors and the large number of contributors to the cocktail party launch and in congratulating the Organising Committee pointed to the ever-growing need for specialist aviation law expertise and the significant role the Congress will play in the development of that knowledge.
The Congress will be conducted in Sydney from 12 to 15 October 1988 and already looks like attracting approximately 400 attendees from Australia and countries around the world. ” As its title suggests, the theme of the Congress is air safety in its application to both domestic and international operations and will study in detail the effects of deregulation in the US and the EEC. With deregulation looming in Australia, it is envisaged that the Congress will provide the most professional and informed forum ever likely to be assembled on the topic in this country.
