Qantas launch Pilot Scholarship Scheme:

In what is generally considered a long overdue move, Qantas has launched a pilot scholarship scheme aimed at assisting viable candidates to be able to gain the required skills necessary to then be able to meet the base recruitment requirements of the national camera.

Applicants need to be Australian residents, aged between 20 and 24 years, have a Higher School Certificate or equivalent, hold a CPL and have passed the relevant SCPL theory examinations. Successful applicants with minimal experience will receive supplementary training for a twin engine endorsement, command instrument rating and additional instrument training both in aircraft and via simulators. This training can typically comprise 35 hours of twin engine time, 15 hours of single engine time, 12 hours of simulator time and 20 hours of Gat 1 or similar time.
