737 Crash Similarities Prompt Investigation:

The British Civil Aviation Authority is investigating a possible link between April’s Aloha Airlines Boeing 737 incident in which the fuselgae ripped open in mid-air and the 1981 crash of a 737 over Taiwan which killed 110 passengers and crew when the aircraft disintegrated in flight. Although the CAA has no direct jurisdiction over the two incidents, it is sufficiently concerned to open an investigation of its own.

It points out some similarities and coincidences: the aircraft (Nos 151 and 152 on the line) were both manufactured in February 1969, both were approaching 24,000ft when the fuselage structure failed and both failures occurred at the part of the fuselage between the leading edge of the wing and the cockpit, or section 43.
