On The Airbands

A couple of good scanning radios recently found their way into my listening post and are worthy of a mention here. The Cobra Sr-15100 channel scanner, which covers airband 108 to 136 MHz, plus the new Australian (American) Lo-band, Hi-band VHF, and UHF frequencies, and the WIN 108 dedicated airband monitor scanner.

The Cobra SR-15 is available at prices ranging from as low and $349 to $499. It scans 100 channels in just over 6 seconds, and has a ·search’ facility. It’s so good I bought one! WIN 108 is a true pocket-sized portable that’s fully programmable and very sensitive. Great as a backup airborne receiver, it covers the 720 channel communication band, plus 200 channels of the preceding navigation band. I successfully tuned it down as low as 115. 375 MHz.
