A Great Year for Australian Airlines:

Australian Airlines posted a record net profit for the 1987/88 financial year of some $61. 5m, an increase of more than ten times the previous year’s figure.

Tax paid to the Government was a not inconsiderable $29. 8m which left the airline with an after tax profit of $46. 3m, an increase of 88% on last year’s performance.
