A Common 747:

In an attempt to reduce costs, Qantas and British Airways are exploring ways of using each others aircraft.

The basis of their discussions is a common specification for the Boeing 747-400s the airlines have on order, allowing them to operate or maintain each other’s aircraft and increase utilisation which would otherwise be lost while they stand idle at London or Sydney airports between services.
