The USAF finally released a photo of their long secret Stealth Fighter, designated the F-117A (and not the F-19 that we all thought it was) during early November, just two weeks prior to the rollout of the Northrop B-2 stealth bomber. USAF will acquire 59 of the single seat fighters in a programme that is due to end in 1990. Based at Tonopah, Nevada, the F-117As are being declared 'official' so that they can now operate openly in the daytime in conjunction with other US and allied military aircraft.

Australian Hornets to Canada?:
There is a strong possibility that Australia could be involved in supplying up to 25 F-18 Hornets to Canada.
The Canadian Government has decided to operate the F-18 right up till the year 2010(as is Australia) and thus requires a greater number of attrition aircraft than initially budgeted for when it placed its 138 aircraft order back in 1980. Initially the RCAF approached the US but as the earlier model A & B variants are no longer produced, both McDonnell Douglas and the US Navy and Marine Corps were unable to assist them. Consequently, Australia is the only other nation actually capable of manufacturing the A & B version that Canada requires.
