A 737 on the Renton production line. Is Boeing foresaking quality control in the rush to expand production to cope with its massive backlog of orders?
I Wouldn’t Fly on a Boeing
“I wouldn’t fly on a Boeing!” Comments like this are a little dramatic and certainly an over reaction to those of us within the aerospace/airline industry. However, we have heard a number of lay people without prompting express this very sentiment most emphatically in recent weeks.
Alerted to this, we did some checking around and found that the general consensus of many non aviation people was that there must be something suddenly wrong with Boeings, such is their propensity for generating bad press in recent months. We have all seen this before though, McDonnell Douglas was publicly mauled back in the late seventies due to a series of unfortunate accidents and incidents involving the otherwise excellent DC-10 trijet. Now it appears that it is time for Boeing to take the media spotlight.
