Stillwell Civil Flying Services have taken over the Mooney Aircraft distributorship for Australia. Mooney currently manufactures four different models: the normally aspirated 201, the turbocharged 252, the 270bhP_ TLS and the Porsche engined PFM. There are at present 130 Mooney aircraft on the Australian register and Stillwell Civils will be working hard to double this figure over the next few years

Aviation Senate Enquiry:
Proposals by the Federal Opposition for a wide ranging inquiry into the administration of aviation in Australia have bome fruit with the establishment in the Senate of such an inquiry.
The terms of reference will focus on the Federal Airports Corporation and the Civil Aviation Authority in the wake of widespread dissatisfaction in the industry with both organisations. The FAC has been accused of imposing discriminatory (and possibly illegal) charges, while the CAA has been accused of being self serving, excessively regulatory and imposing unfair and unnecessary costs. Charter, commuter and general aviation operators in particular have been badly hit by introduced and proposed extra charges plus a general attitude by the Government that as those involved don’t provide enough votes to make a difference in an election, they should wear the brunt of “cost over-recovery.
