The big gets bigger dept! Not satisfied with their Gargantuan An-124 Ruslan, the Soviets have now developed this giant of giants. Designated An-225 and appropriately named Dream, the six engined giant is derived from the basic Ruslan design though is around 30% larger overall. Expected uses are as an unusually large transporter of outsize equipment and as a piggy back transport vehicle for the Soviet space shuttle programme.

Mirage the Final Farewell:
The last Mirage jet fighter in operational service with the RAAF made its final flight on February 8, from Adelaide to Woomera.
The aircraft operated by the RAAF’s Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU), will join 49 other Mirages in storage at Woomera. The long-serving jets have been replaced by the F-18 Hornet and are now awaiting sale by tender. ARDU retained the Mirage, after others were taken out of service last October, to continue weapons testing for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
