• Qantas operated its last scheduled Boeing 707 service on 25 March when VH-EAG flew QF44 from Auckland to Sydney. The following final exchange between the aircraft and Sydney Tower summed it all up. QF44 “For your information this will be the last scheduled landing of a Boeing 707 in Qantas service”. Sydney Tower “Roger”. Sydney Tower “QF44, with a tear in my eye, clear to land”. QF44 “I know how you feer.

• Kawasaki has rolled out the final P-2J from its Nagoya plant, the last of 83 of the type to be delivered to the Maritime Self Defence Force. The last of the P-2Js is not scheduled to be withdrawn from MSDF service until 1992.
