On The Airbands

People die on airliners, just as they do in millions of other places. It was sad, but nevertheless intriguing, to hear the technical crew of Cathay 101 (ex-Hong Kong for Sydney) call Sydney Control early one morning on 118. 5 to advise of a passenger death.

The crew requested NSW Police assistance prior to and immediately after landing at the destination airport, mainly with distraught relatives. The Cathay crew are to be highly commended for their obvious compassion and tact under the most trying of circumstances.
