Masling Rotor & Wing to Distribute Re-Engined Aerospatiale As350s . . .

Cootamundra-based Masling Rotor and Wing, local distributor for McDonnell Douglas and Schweitzer Helicopters, has recently announced acquisition of distribution rights for Allison 250-C30M engine conversions on AS350 ‘Squirrel’ airframes.

The Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the conversion was originally acquired by Detroit Diesel Allison. The AS350 light turbine helicopter was developed in the and was initially marketed in 2 versions. In the US, a Lycoming LTS-101 equipped version (dubbed the AS350 AStar) was released. In the rest of the world, the Turbomeca Arriel 1 B equipped AS350B ‘Ecureuil’ was offered. (‘Ecureuil’ means ‘Squirrel’ in French. )
