LaTur became the first Mexican operator of an Airbus aircraft when they recently took delivery of this A300-600. LaTur is owned by the Mexican Airline Pilots Federation, what a pity the AFAP couldn't have done something positive like this!

DC-10 Safety Moves:
In the wake of the Sioux City DC-10 accident last July in which the uncontained disintegration of the tail mounted No2 CF6 engine damaged all three of the aircraft’s hydraulic systems, McDonnell Douglas has announced a series of safety enhancement modifications designed to cope with an admittedly unlikely recurrence of those circumstances.
The package comprises three separate installations- an electrically operated shutoff valve in the supply line and a check valve in the return line of the No3 hydraulic system, a sensor switch in the No3 hydraulic reservoir and an annunciator light in the cockpit to inform the crew if the shutoff valve is activated.
