Bristow Wins Sar Contract

Perth based Bristow Helicopters has won a RAAF contract for Search and Rescue work to be carried out at RAAF Pearce, home of the air force’s advanced flying training school. The company will use a Bell 212 for the three year contract which starts in December.

The company will also be required to provide another helicopter for SAR standby when the RAAF aircraft operate away from Pearce on detachment. It is likely Bristow will then use an Aerospatiale Puma from its Karratha base where three are operated on support work for the big natural gas exploration industry in the area. Meanwhile, Lloyd Helicopters won the SAR contract for the RAAF fighter bases at Tindal and Williamtown which were previously held by the now defunct but still controversial National Safety Council of Australia.
