Aerospatiale’s Record Order:
Parafield’s Australian Aviation College has placed a $4m order with Aerospatiale Australia for 18 aircraft, the largest single light aircraft contract placed in this country for many years and a major coup for the Australian distributors of the Aerospatiale TB range of light aircraft. The order comprises 10 TB 10 Tobagos, 6 TB 20 Trinidads and a pair of Mudry CAP 108 two seat, tailwheel aerobatic aircraft. Four Tobagos and 4 Trinidad are also on option. The exciting CAP 1088 wooden aircraft derived from the well known Piel Emeraude homebuilt but factory built, stressed to +6-3g and powered by a 180hp Lycoming engine- will be the first of their type to be seen in Australia.
The Australian Aviation College joins several other professional flying training establishments in China, the USA, India and elsewhere in t selecting Tobagos and/or Trinidads for the training of future airline pilots. Deliveries will commence this December and be completed by June next year. AAC’s first customer airline is Qantas and Malaysian Airways System is also contracted to use the college which will be entirely self contained with living and classroom facilities on the airfield. It is expected that 200 students will be in full-time training within three years. The course is conducted over 66 weeks and includes 285 flying hours.
