Further Steps Towards Wayports

This article recently commented upon the introduction of a new concept in airport development which is rapidly gaining political and industrial support in the USA, that of wayports.

The FAA has now formed a 15 member task force charged with examining proposals for solving chronic airport congestion based upon forecast system demand. The Task Force will look at the practicality of setting up new wayports and developing over 20 currently underused airports, each located within about 150 kilometres of an existing congested hub. Other concepts such as superports, superhubs and new ports of entry will also be studied by the Task Force.
