FAC Initiatives
The Federal Airports Corporation has taken some positive steps to promote the expansion of the General Aviation sector in Australia. The initiatives to be announced progressively will be taken with industry support and will underpin the future development of the industry.
At a meeting with industry representatives in November 1989, it was encouraging to note that the deficits at general aviation airports under the control of the FAG are diminishing. This has been achieved by a combination of tight control over costs and a substantial expansion of non aeronautical revenue at GA airports. In choosing to promote the growth of GeneralAviation, the FAG has recognised that it will prosper alongside a strong industry. At a time when the domestic airline industry has committed ‘hari kari’, there are substantial opportunities for the general aviation sector and the FAG are to be applauded for such foresight.
