Held between the 14th and 18th February at Singapore’s Changi International Exhibition Centre, the latest bi-annual Asian Aerospace proved conclusively that this show is now firmly ranked third behind Paris and Farnborough in terms of market credibility.
Just under 1,000 individual firms were represented from a total of 33 nations, a significant increase on the 1988 event. Attendance was also up with some 25,000 trade and 60,000 non trade visitors as against 18,000 and 30,000 respectively in 1988. The number of aircraft on display also increased from 44 to 53 including flying displays from such types as the Sukhoi Su-27, Ilyushin I-96-300, Mirage 2000 and F-16. Indeed, it is not hard to envisage that by the end of the decade Asian Aerospace will be as large as Farnborough was just a few years ago.
