Kitty Hawk News
The Col Pay P-40E Kittyhawk has flown. On December 15 Col’s P-40E, appropriately registered VH-KTH made a brief ten minute flight at Scone, NSW, followed by an hour long flight the next day. Col Pay who made the first flights reports that the Curtiss handles “Okay”.
It was an historic day as not only did the Kittyhawk fly but also Col’s Mustang and Spitfire, the three fighters making a spectacular sight as they flew past in ‘vie’ formation with the P-40 in the lead. Col Pay flew the Kittyhawk, Ken Howard the Spitfire and Bill Scott the Mustang.
