Qantas Flies Into the Nineties With New Generation Simulators
After much-publicised delays, Qantas is finally utilising its new 747-400 flight simulator.
The airline will soon have another and will also upgrade its 7 47-400 fixed-base unit to a full flight simulator this year, giving it a total of three -400 flight simulators. In full ‘flight’ operation, each simulator is worth $US30 million.
The first of the new flight simulators was certified by the CAA and was finally up and running on 13 September 1989-almost a year behind schedule to the originally proposed deadline of October 1988.
