• Ansett Airlines has announced the selection of the General Electric CF6-80A as the powerplant for its five Boeing 767s to be delivered from October 1982.

• TAA has established new traffic records during its 1979/80 financial year. It became the first Australian airline to carry over 5 million passengers when a total of 5,080,000 were uplifted. Another milestone was the carriage of 1 million passengers on the Melbourne/Sydney route.
