British Airways recently signed its biggest ever aircraft order with 21 firm orders for the Boeing 747-400 (seven of which are exercised options) and a further 12 options. The deal takes total BA 747-400 commitments to 53, 13 of which are already in service.

Interscan Awarded Spanish MLS Contract:
Sydney based Interscan International Ltd has been awarded the con- tract to supply Spain’s first microwave landings system (MLS).
The $3m Spanish MLS contract-won by tender by Interscan and its Spanish partner, ENA Telecommunications SA is the first Interscan MLS sale in Europe, it is the first in the world to provide a Category Vill specification MLS. The system’s Category II/III specifications are much more capable than the earlier Category I systems currently in operation elsewhere in the world, the Cat Ill’s final stage allows a completely blind landing in zero-zero visibility. The Interscan system will be installed at Salamanca, about 220km northwest of Madrid.
