Compass and Australian Forg- Ing Closer Links:
In what to those outside the aviation industry would seem a logical move, Compass and Australian Airlines are beginning to form closer links that may see the two carriers working closely together in areas of mutual interest.
Compass will be using the Australian Airlines terminals at the key ports of Sydney and Melbourne and has now agreed on a deal where the new airline will be able to let space in Australian’s large maintenance hangar at Brisbane Airport. Engineering support work will be carried out by Hawker Pacific though there naturally exists the possibility of Australian performing some of the heavy longer term maintenance on Compass’ A300-600йs. This would have the potential for bringing in additional revenue for Australian’s engineering division in addition to keeping the work in-country rather than having it go offshore to Singapore, Taipei or Seoul.
