To meet the continued high demand for the 737, Boeing has raised the aircraft's production rate to 17 per month, taking the total for all Boeing jetliners to 34 per month. Five 747-400s, seven 757s and five 767s also come off the production line each month. If strong sales continue then eventual monthly 737 production could reach 21 units.

MD-11 Completes Longest Trijet Flight:
A McDonnell Douglas MD-11 has completed the longest ever flight by a commercial trijet, covering 7,890nm (14,615km) in 16 hours and 35 minutes.
The record flight was completed by the forth prototype MD-11, and was part of a three day test mission to test the aircraft’s cruise endurance and navigation equipment near and over the North Pole. Also evaluated was pilot workload during takeoff, landing and long range cruise. The mission included four flight legs (Yuma, California/Denver/ Seattle/Anchorage/Yuma) flown between 30 July and arriving back at base on 2 August, with the final Anchorage/Yuma over the North Pole flight being the record breaker.
