Federal Government Bails Out of Airport Funding

The Federal Government has outlined it’s withdrawal from airport maintenance and development funding.

In a nutshell, the Federal Department of Transport and Communications (DoTC) is pulling out of aerodromes which are funded as Commonwealth airports or those part funded under the Airport Local Ownership Plan (ALOP), of which there are some three hundred facilities.

The finer details of the changes, announced in the Federal budget, were dropped on shell shocked delegates at the ninth annual meeting of the Australian Airport Owners Association (AAOA) held at Port Augusta on September 6.
