The Calair Skyfox, an Australian variant of the US Denney Kitfox, is the first aircraft to receive CAA CAO 101.55 certification. There are already over 40 orders for the Ca/air Skyfox from all states of Australia and serious enquiries have come from NZ, PNG, south east Asia and Switzerland. It is a side-by-side fabric covered taildragger with a 75kt TAS cruise, very much along the lines of an Auster of Cub.

British Airways April-June 1990 profits were up 79% to $A285m on a 13. 6% jump in revenues to $A3bn. Cathay Pacific have announced a net profit of SHK1,427m ($A218m), up 4% on the same period last year. Both passenger and load factors were marginally lower than in 1989, against a capacity increase of 12. 3%. British Aero-space have announced pretax profits for the six months ended June 30, 1990 of £146m ($A343. 9m), down just £1m ($A2. 35m) on the corresponding period last year. Sales of £4. 8bn ($A11. 3bn) were recorded while trading profit increased by 36% over first half 1989 to £234m ($A551m). Fokker has posted a net profit for the first half of 1990 of NLG41. 91m ($A28. 6m), up from NLG14. 079m (SA9. 6m) in the same period 1989. Seven F50s and 28 F100s were sold during the period. Rolls-Royce have announced a profit after taxation for the half year ended 30 June 1990 of £98m (SA230. 8m). The current RR order book stands at a record value of over £6bn ($A14. 13bn).

Mr David Humphries has been appointed Director of Aeronautical Research Laboratories, Melbourne. Australian, Mr Scott Winton, who was killed last year while flying a revolutionary ultralight flying wing, has been posthumously awarded the prestigious Blenot Medal by the Federation Aéronautique Internationale.
