Airline News
There is plenty of activity in this sector of the market as the domestic airlines head towards Deregulation. Eastwest take delivery of their first BAe 146-300 and start to rollover their Fokker F28 fleet while Australian Airlines lease out two of their Boeing 737-476s.
Eastwest took delivery of their first two BAe 146-300 aircraft, VH-EWI msn E-3171 and VH-EWJ msn E-3173, at Tamworth on August 29th. Resplendent in the new Eastwest colours the BAe 146s were soon in service, with VH-EWI operating the first flight by this type for Eastwest on September 4th when it flew the appropriately numbered EW146 from Sydney to Coolangatta. Eastwest’s third BAe 146-300, VH-EWK msn E-3174, was delivered to Tamworth in mid October. As Eastwest take delivery of the eight BAe 146-300s they have on order the Fokker F28s presently used will be withdrawn to join the fleet of Ansett NSW or Ansett WA.
