Vale Ansett Nsw, Welcome Ansett Express:
November 28 saw the demise of 56 years of airline heritage with the combined renaming and market repositioning of what was formerly Ansett NSW.
Replacing the embattled NSW regional is Ansett Express, a long overdue experiment in hub bypassing that should prove immensely successful in the newly deregulated Australian airline environment. Using a fleet of nine F28 Fellowship jets and seven Fokker 50 propjets, Ansett Express will now be based out of Brisbane and will greatly expand its services nationally, initially with improved non stop services to such ports as Rockhampton, Mackay and Canberra. All are areas of immense potential which in recent years have often been limited by poor connections or the need to always transit a major city. By hub bypassing. Ansett Exp- ress hopes to be able to half the time taken for many journeys.
