An LPA (light personal aircraft) growing in popularity is the Australian Light Wing, produced by Howard Hughes Engineering PIL at Ballina, NSW A very interesting project encourages schools to build their own Light Wings. The first is Kent Street High School in Perth, whose Years 9, 10 and 1 1 industrial arts and aeronautics students have constructed their first Light Wing GA-55 from a kit, with sponsorship from the WA Dept of Education and a number of prominent WA businesses. An excellent project, and what better way to get school children interested in aeronautical engineering and a career as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?
