Thirty-three aircraft make up the new allocations section this month, with homebuilt aircraft to the fore. As is usual this time of year, amateur aircraft builders spend more of their time away from their families and in their garages or hangars in order to finish their projects in time for the annual Sport Aircraft fly-in at Mangalore over the Easter weekend. Two Protecs, a Vans, Calair Skyfox, Glassiar, Aero Sport and a Pitts are listed and most of these can be expected to attend the SAAA fly-in. The Protec PT2 is a new design in Australian skies whilst the Vans RV6 is a development of the popular RV4 which first flew in 1979, the RV6 getting airborne eightyears later. ZSF is the ninth EA A Aero Sport to fly locally and was designed by Paul Poberezny, President of the Experimental Aircraft Association in the USA from which it gets its name. The fully aerobatic biplane is constructed of a welded steel fuselage with wooden wings, covered in fabric, with fibreglass wing tips.

Similar in construction to the Aero is Pitts Special ZZZ. Fully imported from Canada, this aircraft is a two seat model using a 260hp Lycoming engine and like all Pitts Specials the wooden wings are wire braced both internally and externally.
