Crunch Time Soon on New Structure of Adf

An intensive examination of what should be the forward structure of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the implications of cost and on manpower and equipment,including any changes in direction on major capital procurements, appears to be coming to an end.

The process, actually begun with a series of studies and reports commissioned during the time of the previous Defence Minister, Mr Kim Beazley, and inherited by the new Defence Minister, Senator Robert Ray in March 1990, evolved into a Force Structure Review in the second half of 1990.
