It's great to see Skyhawks once again dominating the skies above Nowra. Primary benefits for the RNZAF include the previously lost ability to exercise with modern state-of-the-art air and naval systems such as RAAF F/A-18 and F-111C aircraft and our various RAN ships, such as the DDGs and FFGs which are considerably more advanced than the aged Leanders operated by New Zealand. For Australia we now get an effective level of fleet support in addition to also being able to practice dissimilar aircombat tactics against a small and agile adversary such as the Skyhawk.

Kiwi Nowra Basing a Benefit to Rnzaf and Australia Alike
A new chapter in Australian/New Zealand defence relations has recently opened with the arrival at NAS Nowra of No 2 Squadron RNZAF with their six Skyhawks, to provide air defence support flying for the ADF.
A team from Australian Aviation was privileged to visit NAS Nowra to be briefed on their activities and to be given a technical rundown on the aircraft together with an overview of their operational capabilities.
