Civil Sar Units Fulfilling Important Role in Search and Rescue

A vital but little publicised role in Australia’s Search and Rescue (SAR) operational structure is that played by the Civil SAR Units (CSU).

CSUs are organisations which provide contract SAR services to the CAA and are called out for operations only when required. As such the CSUs are a highly cost effective means of providing an otherwise very expensive service.
