The recent Asia Pacific demonstration tour of the British Aerospace Advanced Turboprop (ATP) airliner highlights attempts by the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers to obtain sales in the current difficult economic conditions.

Confronted with a recession in many leading economies coupled with a decline in passenger loads, the aftermath of the Gulf War and airline bankruptcies, times are tough indeed. Notwithstanding these handicaps, British Aerospace has taken the wise decision and flown their ATP demonstrator in areas of predicted sales potential for their comfortable, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly twin engine turboprop airliner.
