UK Defence Recommends Longbow Apache

The UK Ministry of Defence has officially recommended the McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Longbow Apache for the British Army’s battlefield anti-armour helicopter requirements, however a contract has yet to be signed.

Under present plans, up to 125 Longbow Apaches would ultimately be acquired for the army, with entry into service slated as being 1996/97. The Army itself is keen to acquire the chopper over its main rivals, and is pressing to have Longbow Apaches with identical specifications to that of the US Army.
